(Hey, I got a lot of questions asking sexual questions and such, and I was hoping to surprise some people by voice acting the responses… but my mic said otherwise. The stand is slowly shorting out meaning I have to plug my microphone head (it detaches for portability) directly into the jack… which is conveniently RIGHT NEXT TO MY LAPTOP FAN. So this makes voice acting an extreme pain in the ass as the noise filter I use overcompensates and makes the quality terrible.)

(So unfortunately, I won’t be able to do any Voice Responses for awhile, at least until I can afford a decent USB Mic for better quality. I originally thought of asking for donations, but I’m -hardly- qualified to receive such a thing and I don’t think I deserve it. So I’m just going to have to wait. I’ll still do art though, so while I can’t answer those perverted asks, I’ll save them until I can and will answer any others with drawings)

I want you to understand a number of things.

First of all, you’re not alone. In fact, you’re as far from alone as I could imagine. Over time, person after beleaguered person has contacted me with a confession that reads just like yours, their words laden with guilt and a feeling of helplessness.

Which brings me to my second point: You’re not a bad person for having these feelings. You’re not a criminal for having thoughts, and you should try your best not to indict yourself for it. The fact is, nobody chooses to become a pedophile. In fact, quite often those with this particular fetish were previous victims of child abuse… which I don’t believe anyone is jumping to blame them for. There are plenty of other reasons why this could appear in a person’s life, but none of them are worth blaming them for, because simply having the fetish does not mean that you’re morally or ethically inferior to any other person.

Which brings me to my third point: A pedophile is not a child molester, any more than a sexually active person is a rapist. They can be, if they make the wrong choices, but there’s no reason at all that they would have to be. In the case of the sexually active person, they must be vigilant to ensure they never let their lust overcome their judgement. As a pedophile, you must do the same- the difference being that since a child can’t consent, you have to make sure that you don’t under any circumstances engage in this act with them.

The first thing you should do is talk to a professional. Make it very clear that you wish to uncover the reason why this popped up in your life. Perhaps it was a traumatic event, or something you weren’t prepared for. It could even, believe it or not, have been a relatively innocuous event that triggered this response within your mind. The important part is to figure out what it was, and to come to grips with that particular part of your life.

This is where it might become difficult. If you find that your attraction hinged on a defense mechanism that no longer functions because of your resolved situation, then you won’t have to worry about it. However, multiple case files have shown that this is often not the case- you can’t often just ‘get rid’ of a sexual fetish, as it cuts a very deep groove in your mind. Please, however, don’t be distressed, or feel that it’s appropriate to simply bury your feelings! The more you suppress and bury this part of you, the more likely it is to come up at inopportune times later- like when you’re emotionally vulnerable.

If push comes to shove and you need an outlet, there are plenty of drawings (key word drawings- photographs are illegal and harm children through economic demand to victimize them for the photos) that you can find. In my research on the effects of fictional pornography, it appears that the more one partakes of this fictional outlet, the more they are able to funnel their desire through that particular style of picture instead of real life variants. This is due to the ‘better than real’ effect of artwork. The effect grows even more stark when using the ‘furry’ variant, creating a very fictional beast upon which to vent these feelings, often changing the viewer’s taste to that of only those fictional creatures. It’s not a perfect solution, but given the choice between simply suppressing desire for real children and trying to channel and change it slightly through concentration of fantasy, I think most would agree that the latter is far more desirable.

Most of all, though, please don’t think this makes you a bad person. I can’t stress that enough, and I don’t say it because I’m impartial or optimistic- I say it because it’s true, and a healthy self-image is necessary to preventing problematic responses in your life.

My basic philosophy on the subject. Of ANY fetish really. Nobody should feel ashamed for liking something. I’m pretty much a ‘do what you like as long as it doesn’t harm anyone’ kinda person. And ALLfetishes have safe outlets in drawings at least.

Another thing people seem to forget is the factor of self control. Just because you like something doesn’t mean you’re automatically bound to pursue physically. I have a fetish for sexualized gore. But I’m not going to go out and kill people to get off. I have enough respect for human life to restrain my likes, as I’m sure most fetishists of any sort do. I hate that everyone would automatically assume a pedophile would automatically give into their fetish. The above person’s anonymous confession is proof enough opposite.

A person should not have to feel guilty for simply liking something. The only guilty parties are the ones that carelessly… I repeat… CARELESSLY harm others in acting/seeking it out…. and the people shunning them for having a fetish they probably didn’t want or choose to have.

I absolutely dislike and loathe child molesters. But as was already said above… Pedophiles are not child molesters. Some are, some aren’t. And I feel bad for the ones that aren’t. Because they have to needlessly carry a burden of hate from the people that lump them all together. And then they hate themselves. Even if they’d never act on it. Just because people see them all as the absolute worst end of the scale.

And again this can be applied to all ‘controversial’ fetishes. God, I hate the closeminded section of the ‘vanilla’ crowd that try to make you feel horrible for liking anything different or strange.
